Bearing installation should be done in a dry, dust-free area as far as possible, and away from equipment that generates metal chips and dust. Contamination should be minimized when installation must be performed in complex environments
When fitting small bearings which are not too tightly fitted, the bearing can be fitted in place by means of a sleeve which is gently tapped with a hammer. The tap should be applied as evenly as possible to the bearing collar in order to prevent the bearing from tilting or skewing.
Most of the bearings are installed by press-in method. If the inner and outer rings of the bearing are installed into the bearing seat on the shaft at the same time, it must be ensured that the same pressure acts on the inner and outer rings at the same time, and must be in contact with the installation tool on the same plane.
Typically, for larger bearing installations, this is not possible without heating the bearing or housing, as the bearing installation requires more force as the size increases. The temperature difference between the bearing ring and the shaft or housing required for hot mounting depends primarily on the interference and the diameter of the bearing fit. The heating temperature of the open bearing shall not exceed 120℃. It is not recommended to heat bearings with seals and dust caps above 80°C (make sure that the temperature does not exceed the temperature allowed by the seals and grease). When heating the bearing, it should be heated evenly, and there must be no local overheating.
For bearings with tapered holes, most of the inner rings are installed with an interference fit. Small to medium bearings can be driven into position on the conical shaft diameter using a bearing installation tool or preferably a locknut. In the case of an adapter sleeve, use a socket nut that can be tightened with a hook or impact wrench. For the withdrawal sleeve, the bearing installation tool or end plate can be used to push it into the bearing bore. Larger bearings require more force to install, so hydraulic nuts should be used. Hydraulic nut can install tapered bore bearing on tapered shaft diameter, on the adapter sleeve, on the withdrawal sleeve
The working principle of the oil injection method is that the hydraulic oil passes through the oil hole and the oil groove under high pressure, and is injected into the mating surface between the bearing and the shaft diameter to form an oil film. The oil film separates the mating surfaces so that friction between the mating surfaces is greatly reduced. This method is usually used when the bearing is mounted directly on a conical shaft diameter. The necessary oil holes and grooves should be part of the overall shaft design. This method can also be used to mount the bearing on the adapter or withdrawal sleeve if the adapter and withdrawal sleeves have been machined with oil holes and oil grooves.
When installing the thrust bearing, check the verticality of the collar and the centerline of the shaft. The method is to fix the dial indicator to the end face of the case, so that the contact of the top of the watch makes the bearing rotate on the bearing raceway, and observe the dial indicator pointer. If the pointer is yawed, the collar and shaft centerline are not perpendicular. When the case hole is deep, an extended dial indicator can also be used for testing. When the thrust bearing is installed correctly, the race can automatically adapt to the rolling of the rolling elements, ensuring that the rolling elements are located in the upper and lower ring raceways. If it is reversed, not only will the bearing work abnormally, but the mating surface will also be severely worn. Since the difference between the collar and the seat ring is not obvious, great care should be taken not to make mistakes when assembling. In addition, there should be a clearance of 0.2-0.5mm between the seat ring of the thrust bearing and the bearing seat hole to compensate for the error caused by the incorrect installation of parts processing. When the center of the bearing ring shifts during operation, this clearance ensures that it automatically adjusts to avoid friction and make it work properly. Otherwise, serious damage to the bearing will occur.
