A one-way bearing with keyway is a bearing that is free to rotate in one direction and locked in the other. The metal housing of a one-way bearing with keyway contains many rollers, needle rollers or ball rollers, and the shape of the rolling seat (cavity) makes it only roll in one direction, while in the other direction will produce a large resistance.
1. Sprag design
This type of sprag freewheel consists roughly of an inner ring, an outer ring, a sprag group, a sprag cage, a strong spring and a bearing. The sprags are wedged between the inner and outer ring to transmit the force from one raceway to the other. The wedge has two diagonal diameters, (i.e., from one corner of the wedge to another pair of corners of the distance) one of which is larger than the other. The wedging action occurs when the inner and outer rings rotate relative to each other forcing the wedge to have a larger vertical position in a larger cross section.

3. Ramp and Roller Type Design
The ramp and roller freewheel basically consists of an outer ring with a cylindrical inner diameter, an inner ring with a ramp and a set of rollers that are subjected to spring forces and are always in close contact with the inner and outer ring. As long as the rotation of one of the rollers in its direction of motion affects the other, this arrangement essentially ensures immediate overrunning speed and guarantees immediate driving capability.
This type of freewheel is suitable for overrunning, indexing and stopping in various environments.
When used as an overrunning freewheel, the Ramp Roller Freewheel is installed in such a way that the outer ring is used as the overrunning member. This is very important for high-speed overrunning. In the case of an inner ring overrunning, the centrifugal force acting on the rollers will cause the overrunning speed to be limited.
